As the articles I write for Smoke & Mirrors quite often require me to use sheet wood material using a laser cutter at home, I can experiment on my own projects and carry out full pieces of artworks using the same tools. My most beloved wood joinery project so far is the replica set for The Royal Game of Ur. After selling several engraved board game sets, I wanted to make my own set inlaid with mosaics made of mother of pearl, lapis lazuli and carnelian imitation, and different paints with clay and wood. I made the wax stamp myself as well, by etching with acid and hand-sawing brass.
